Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) was an Irish poet and playwright known for his sharp wit and rich satires of Victorian Era society. One of the originators of Aestheticism as a philosophy, he has written plays, novels, poems and epigrams, all of which were celebrated in the late 1800s making him well-known during his life.
